EFILive V7.4.2 E38, E67 and Allison-6spd update

5th June, 2007

EFILive's much anticipated E38 scanning and tuning software sets a new and much higher standard that professional tuners have been waiting for. The features available in this pre-release version have definitely been worth the wait. The EFILive Scan Tool eclipses every other tool in its class, so much so that many professional (and even DIY) tuners consider it to be the most powerful scan tool available today. It provides critical tuning data not available from any other tool, including GM's own TechII. With the extra data EFILive FlashScan provides, tuning E38 controllers can now progress well beyond the current "click and hope" options that currently exist.

One of the latest features of the FlashScan Scan Tool is the ability to log individual cylinder knock retard so you know exactly which cylinder is responsible for knock retard. Shown in the image below you can see the ECM has removed 2.11 degrees of timing from the final spark value as a knock retard amount, with ordinary "enhanced" scantools that would be all the information you would get. With EFILive you can go much further. You can monitor and log exactly how much knock is detected per cylinder, in this case, cylinder B. From this data you can easily make changes to individual cylinder knock settings in the EFILive Tuning Tool.

In the next image you can see the incredible power of EFILive's DMA PIDs, this example shows Commanded Air/Fuel Ratios, Engine Operating Zones, various spark compensation values such as ECT (Engine Coolant Temp), IAT (Intake Air Temp), EQ Ratio spark adjust and more. With an ordinary "enhanced" scan tool, you will only ever see the final spark advance, which is shown in the image below as 34 degrees. With EFILive's E38 DMA PIDs you get to see the base timing (34.4 degrees) and the timing adjustment due to the ECT spark compensation (-0.5 degrees). It is plain to see that the final spark advance has been modified by the ECT spark modifier table, and possibly other spark modifier tables, not shown in this image.

Over the coming months EFILive will continue to to enhance our scantool and tuning tool with the E38 & E67 ECM’s in mind to make tuning these rather complex ECM’s not such a daunting task.

Not to be overlooked, this pre-release also delivers tuning capabilities for the Allison 6 speed controller. Now all you LBZ and LMM Duramax diesel power junkies can finally set up your Allison 6 speed just the way you like it just in time for racing season! While the E38 and Allison 6spd updates were being finalized, the EFILive development guys have been extremely busy getting the next generation of firmware ready for FlashScan V2. If you have a FlashScan V2 then over the next few months you will be getting updates that include: black box logging, freeze frame logging, bi-directional controls and standalone reflashing.

EFILive's all new AutoCal device is poised to hit the market this year. Beta testing starts in mid June. Workshops who, up until now have been mailing PCMs cross-country, will soon be able to take advantage of a whole new business model. AutoCal is the tuning delivery platform of the future, make sure you don't miss out.

Thanks for your patience and your support. Quality tools require great effort to design and build and we believe quality is EFILive's most important feature. We know our customers do too.

The EFILive Development Team.
